WPRA SUMMER RODEO RUN & COWGIRL CHRISTMAS ARE UPON US

How Charlie’s Angels Are Kicking Off Their Summer Runs

With the Reno Rodeo in the books, the PRCA summer run — better known as “Cowboy Christmas,” or as we like to call it, “Cowgirl Christmas” — has officially begun. Charlie’s Angels are hitting the road this summer in hopes of striking it rich across the west coast and beyond.

Top athletes like breakaway roper Martha Angelone and barrel racer McKenna Coronado are leading the charge, with expert talent and signature style beneath their Charlie 1 Horse brims. WPRA athletes will travel thousands of miles, criss crossing the country this summer with ultimate hopes of securing qualifications for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) and National Breakaway Roping Finals (NBR).

Beginning in the high-desert mountains of Reno, Nevada, the Reno Rodeo marks the start of the famed, high stakes chaos. Cowgirls will crisscross the country with stops at some of Cowboy Christmas’ most iconic venues, including the St. Paul Rodeo in Oregon and Prescott Frontier Days in Arizona.

With trailers loaded, trusted equine partners in tow and a fresh lineup of Charlie 1 Horse straw hats packed for the road, cowgirls across the country are eager to kickstart the thrilling summer schedule.

Ahead of the summer run, several Charlie 1 Horse athletes have already built strong momentum during the 2026 season.

2022 World Champion Breakaway Roper Martha Angelone has found success at major events including the Windy Ryon Memorial Roping and the Woodward Elks Rodeo jackpot. Currently ranked No. 19 in the WPRA world standings with more than $28,000 earned this season, Angelone will look to capitalize on her veteran experience in pursuit of another NBR qualification.

Utah barrel racer McKenna Coronado also enters the summer stretch with momentum after standout performances at premier winter indoor rodeos such as RODEOHOUSTON and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Ranked No. 28 in the WPRA standings with more than $28,000 won this season, Coronado and her team of equine athletes will aim to gain ground at key summer rodeos including the Snake River Stampede and Greeley Stampede.

Easily recognizable by the firebrand on their hats as they back into the box or race down the alleyway, Charlie’s Angels continue making their mark both inside and outside the arena as they chase their goals and look to make history this Cowgirl Christmas.
